• Anxiety Support Group

  • Fear Fighters is a safe and supportive anxiety management program to help your teen reclaim their power over fear and anxiety (and anxiety-related mental health struggles). Fear Fighters helps teens affected by anxiety through: small group support, psychoeducation, emotion regulation and relaxation training, and unique exposure therapies. The goal of Fear Fighters is to give your teen support, and tools, in order to fight anxiety, and help them experience more peace, pride, and joy!  

    Experiential Anxiety Support Group for Adolescents (8 sessions, 12 hours)

    • Facilitator: Ryan Helton, MSC, LPC
    • Target Population: Adolescents and Adults (age groups separated) Struggling to Manage Anxiety
      • Ages: Middle School (Wednesdays from 3pm-4:30pm)
      • Ages: High School (Tuesdays from 3pm-4:30pm)
      • Ages: Adults (Thursdays from 3pm-4:30pm)
    • Small Groups: 6-8 participants (closed group)

      • Module 1: "Facing Fear": 8 Weeks, 8-Sessions
      • Module 2: "Fighting Fear": 8-Weeks, 8-Sessions

    Components of Program:

    Support- You are not alone. Receive validation and support from a facilitator who was once affected by anxiety, and from group members who are currently struggling to manage anxiety. Sharing your experience, being understood, and hearing others’ stories is just as powerful as anything you will experience throughout this group. We all fear that no one will possibly understand what we are going through, so we internalize and stay silent. Unfortunately, silence and isolation lead to shame and further feelings of inadequacy. Sharing your experiences, being heard, and being validated, nearly immediately kills this feeling of shame, inadequacy, and loneliness. This is the first step to reclaiming your power!

    Psychoeducation- In order to slay anxiety and fear, you first must study and understand: what IT is, why you experience IT, how IT manifests, and how to slay IT! We cannot solve a problem that we do not fully understand. This is where we understand all parts of the equation before we start to solve!

    Relaxation Training- This is the part where you learn healthy ways to be in control of your thoughts, your emotions, and regulate your physiology. Using cognitive behavioral therapy methods, you learn to: identify, challenge, and replace unhealthy thinking patterns.  Using various relaxation methods, including meditation, mindfulness, muscle relaxation, and breathing exercises, you will start to train your body to feel relaxed!

    Exposure- This is where we put your newly introduced support, education, and relaxation training to the test! In this phase, we invite the fear and anxiety in, and we battle! Little by little, you will create small victories that build confidence in your ability to be a master of your emotions and conquer anxiety and fear!  

    Peace, Pride, & Joy- Anxiety can rob your peace, steal your joy, and kill your pride. Through this course, you will experience Peace, Pride, and Joy. Peace, after learning to implement relaxation strategies. Pride, after successfully practicing fear slaying techniques. Joy, after realizing that on the other side of fear, is fun!
